Two Quick Putting Tips

Putting can be one of the most difficult aspects of golf to master. That said, here are two quick tips for beginning golfers to keep in mind when trying to improve performance on the green.

Make sure to use the proper form. Firmly grip the putter with both hands while keeping the arms and head still. The putting stroke works like a pendulum. Rock the shoulders straight back, and then swing them straight through the ball. The motion should be very smooth - no jerking or sudden movements.

Learn the basics of “reading the green.” For example, if the grass appears to be a lighter shade than the other grass around, it has likely been cut away, meaning it will play faster due to less friction. Practically, this means putting with too much force will send the ball careening past the hole. Understanding these sorts of dynamics is vital to improving one’s putting game.

New York Giants Promote One Member of Coaching Staff and Hire Two More

A resident of Wyckoff, New Jersey, Brent Potter is an IT professional who serves as the vice president of vulnerability management for Morgan Stanley in New York City. Outside of his professional life, Brent Potter cheers on the New York Giants, a team that plays their homes games approximately 30 miles from his home in Wyckoff. In early March, the New York Giants finalized its coaching staff for the 2017 season. In addition to promoting one member of the team’s existing staff, the Giants hired two new coaches.  Head coach Ben McAdoo promoted former defensive assistant Rob Leonard to the role of assistant defensive line coach, replacing Jeff Zgonina, who accepted a job with the San Francisco 49ers in February.
