Rock Climbing and Hiking at Chimney Rock


Experienced information security professional Brent Potter Wyckoff has spent nearly two decades with Morgan Stanley in New York City. As vice president of the company’s vulnerability management division, he oversees the firm-wide technology and information risk program. Away from work, Brent Potter Wyckoff is an avid hiker. He has hiked throughout the United States, including climbs at Chimney Rock and Tuckerman Ravine.

Located outside Asheville, North Carolina, Chimney Rock State Park provides a number of opportunities to hiking enthusiasts and rock climbers at every skill level. With the help of Fox Mountain Guides and Climbing School, the park is able to provide instruction and support to individual climbers, as well as climbing and rappelling family and group adventures.

Among the park's most popular climbing attractions is Rumbling Bald Climbing Access, a comprehensive bouldering and technical rock course with as many as 1,500 unique bouldering challenges. Not only is Rumbling Bald Climbing Access available to the public at no charge, it has been made easily accessible thanks to a convenient, scenic 1.5 hiking path connecting the terrain to the nearest parking area.
